6 Passenger Vehicles: 3 Options to Choose From

January 21st, 2010

In today’s society everything is about saving money, and going along with that is the concern that vehicles be more fuel efficient. In turn with being more fuel efficient, most of the time means being smaller, or less powerful. It is all well and good to save money and have a more fuel efficient vehicle, but when it comes to a large family, going smaller isn’t an option.

Don’t panic though, companies are still making vehicles to accommodate those families. So if your family is in demand for 6 passenger vehicles, as many large families are, it may pay to do some research before walking onto the lot to buy. I suggest starting your research with a few of the vehicles recommended here.

6 Passenger Vehicle Option 1

There are several vehicles hitting the markets recently that seat six passengers very comfortably, and are also designed to save on fuel as well. One being the new 2010 Mazda 5 that houses a 16 valve 4 cylinder engine under the hood which puts out 153 horse power.

It also gets up to 28 miles per gallon, and seems to very comfortably seat 6 with extra room for cargo as well. All that combined with a 5 star crash safety rating makes the Mazda 5 my number three pick for a 6 passenger vehicle.

This is a great vehicle for medium to large families that are on a tight budget. The small but power producing 4 cylinder would be all you need for around town and light pulling.

Vehicle Option 2

Another great vehicle rated for six plus passengers is the Honda Pilot. The third row seating that makes actually eight seats possible comes standard in all models of the Pilot. Also coming standard is their six cylinder engine which gets 21 miles to the gallon and has an impressive 250 horse power.

Honda focuses on safety in the Pilot as well including front and side curtain airbags for all three rows as well as child seat anchors in the third row. This great package of power and safety makes for an excellent large family vehicle and gets my number two pick for a six and up passenger vehicle.

Vehicle Option 3

The best vehicle I can at least suggest for you to research is the Toyota Highlander. Toyota has made many options available on this vehicle including paying about another seven thousand dollars and getting one of the most powerful hybrid engines available. A

lso the Highlander comes standard with two wheel drive but you have the option to upgrade to full time four wheel drive, or the electronic on demand four wheel drive with intelligence.

If you elect the hybrid as the engine you will be getting a 24 valve 6 cylinder engine producing about 208 horse power. This is pretty good considering it’s mostly coming from permanent magnet electric motors. It still has a 28 mpg fuel rating which isn’t much different than other 6 cylinder gas engines available. All together though this is a great pick for a 6 and up passenger vehicle.

There are still 6 passenger vehicles being designed and produced for those families in need. I always look forward to the new ideas that will revolutionize the multiple passenger vehicle just as we have done many times already.

It is a great time to be needing a family size vehicle with the conveniences and options available on them now. You know how important it is to find the right vehicle for your family. After all, today’s family spends a good bit of time in a vehicle, so make sure it’s a safe and enjoyable time.

6 Passenger Vehicles

January 5th, 2010

If you are looking for 6 passenger vehicles, you are not alone.  Many people are tired of the plain 5 seater car, or they simply need more room.  The good news is that there are many 6 passenger vehicles to choose from these days.  Car manufacturers have finally started to listen to their customers and are adding 6 or 7 or more seats in some of their most popular models.

When you are in the market to buy a new or used car, you will need to assess a few things before going out and hitting the car lots. How many people will be in the vehicle? How far will you be driving? Will you be driving in inclement weather? Will it need to be an automatic?

You should make a list of the things that you absolutely must have and then a list of what you would like it to have. You might like to have a sunroof but would it really kill the deal if it did not?

Automobile manufacturers are making cars smaller and smaller these days so that the cars are more fuel efficient. This is a good thing but people with large families need 6 passenger vehicles and sometimes more than that.

These cars are also being fine tuned so that they are getting better mileage too. You might dream about the small 2 seater sports car but the reality is that, at least for now, you will need a larger vehicle.

There are many 6 passenger cars to choose from. Most of these are minivans or SUV’s. Some crossovers also have the optional third row of seating. It might be tight in that third row but it gives you the option of taking at least 6 passengers with you when you drive.

When not needed the third row easily folds down so you have the extra storage space in the rear section of the vehicle. Just about all the top manufacturers have models you can choose from. Use the list you put together to help narrow down your car options.

6 Passenger Vehicles: They Do Still Exist!

November 6th, 2009

With automakers focusing on integrating as many features as possible in the center console area, the number of 6 passenger vehicles being manufactured has declined over the years. The front bench seating needed to accommodate three people has been exchanged for separate front seats with the gear shift and parking brake placed in-between.

But all is not lost. Though not as common as they once used to be, there are still a few full sized cars on the market with bench seating for that extra passenger. The Lincoln Town Car is, perhaps, the most well known of the bunch. A long favorite of older drivers, the Town Car has a movable center console that can be flipped up to provide more room.

One of Ford’s flagship cars, the Crown Victoria, also offers seating for six passengers. Since its inception in 1955, the Crown Victoria has been an American favorite. Its rugged construction and durability has caused it to become the number one choice for police and taxi fleets across the country.

As one of the last traditional full-size cars, the Mercury Grand Marquis still has the two armrests in the middle that can be adjusted to make space for a sixth person. It even has a foot rest where they can place their feet so that they are not interfering with the comfort of the driver or the other passenger.

And when it comes to deciding exactly who gets to sit in that middle front seat, drawing straws has always proved to be an effective decision making method for centuries.
